Day 1: Whitehorse

Day 3: Yukon Wilderness Explorer

After collecting your Cruise Canada RV from our depot in Whitehorse, enjoy time in this contemporary city with a vibrant arts community, world-class attractions, and the amenities of a big city, with an endearing small-town vibe. Visit the S.S. Klondike and MacBride Museum and take an easy hike around Miles Canyon. Visit the Yukon Wildlife Preserve and Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs.


Day 4: Carmacks/Pelly Crossing
Travel on the North Klondike Highway to Carmacks with its scenic riverfront boardwalk and the Tag Cho Hudn Interpretive Centre. Just north of Carmacks, don't miss a stop at Five Finger Rapids. 177 km further north of Carmacks, don't miss Pelly Crossing: Selkirk First Nation Cultural Centre (Big Jonathan House). We would suggest doing the Fort Selkirk Boat tour, which departs from Minto.


Day 6: Dawson City/Tombstone Territorial Park
Keep your eye out for wildlife as you continue north to Dawson City, an official National Historic and UNESCO World Heritage Site (Trondk-Klondike) that still evokes the heartbeat of the greatest gold rush in history, with its boardwalks and vintage false-front buildings. First Nations cultural experiences and wilderness adventures are also part of today's Klondike experience. Many of Dawson City's historic buildings are managed by Parks Canada, which offers a range of walking tours. From the Commissioner's Residence to the Palace Grand Theatre, interpretive guides bring to life the stories of Dawson. There are also poetry readings at the Robert Service Cabin or guided hikes that incorporate learning about the bard and listening to some of his poems. 356 kms The perfect way to finish the day is at Diamond Tooth Gerties to take in a can-can show. Visit Dredge No.4 National Historic Site and the Discovery Claim National Historic Site and try your hand at gold panning. Optional: Take the day to visit Tombstone Territorial Park (approximately 297km round trip) located about an hour north of the Dempster Corner turnoff. It is a unique wilderness of rugged peaks, permafrost landforms, and abundant wildlife. The highway traverses the park and offers subarctic scenery, excellent hiking options, and opportunities for wildlife viewing. The park is especially beautiful in late August when the fall colors appear.


Day 7: Chicken\Tok
A free ferry across the Yukon River connects to the Top of the World Highway. Head out on this beautiful scenic road and enter Alaska. An overnight stop at Tok is your gateway to this untamed Alaskan wilderness. 297 kms The Visitor Centre has information about nature trails and museums on pioneer life in Alaska. Stop in Chicken, Alaska, for lunch!


Day 8: Beaver Creek
Depart Tok, and the drive along the historic Alaska Highway takes you through breathtaking landscapes to Beaver Creek, Canada's westernmost community, and south of there for an overnight stop. Discovery Yukon Lodgings is nestled at the base of the foothills that descend from the mountainous Kluane Park Preserve. 228 kms Known as the land of the midnight sun, where life flourishes under hours of intense sunlight during the summer months.


Day 9: Burwash Landing\Destruction Bay\Haines Junction
Continue south through Burwash Landing and Destruction Bay to Haines Junction, passing along the edge of the Kluane National Park and Reserve, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kathleen Lake, and the Da Ku Culture Centre. Haines Junction is a picture-postcard village and the perfect base for hiking tours in the park. Interpretive trails and exhibits will introduce you to the wonders of one of North America's most awe-inspiring wilderness preserves and home to bears, caribou, moose, and way more! 238 kms Visit the Kluane Museum of Natural History in Burwash Landing. Don't miss the opportunity to take an unforgettable glacier sightseeing flight.


Day 11: Haines
Today you will pass breathtaking views of Tatshenshini Alsek Park and through the alpine heights of Haines Pass to Haines, Alaska. The area along the Chilkat River flats, alongside the Haines Road, is critical habitat for bald eagles and the best place to observe them. Stop by the Klukshu Village - a seasonal First Nations fish camp and Million Dollar Falls. In addition to a government-run campground, there are walking trails, a network of boardwalks, and observation decks for viewing the falls. 238 kms Visit the Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve in Haines. You can also watch Grizzly bear fishing from mid-August to mid-September on Chilkoot Lake.


Day 12: Haines\Skagway
Enjoy Haines - a picturesque coastal town nestled in the heart of the Tongass National Forest. Surrounded by towering mountains and lush rainforests, this charming community offers breathtaking natural beauty and a peaceful atmosphere. Take the ferry to Skagway, the gateway to the Klondike gold fields during the Klondike Gold Rush. From here, prospectors hiked the Chilkoot Trail to Bennett Lake and navigated the Yukon River to Dawson City. 31 kms Alaska Marine Highway (AMH) operates the 1hr vehicle ferry service between Skagway and Haines, Alaska. Book well in advance. Enjoy the attractions of the well-preserved gold rush town of Skagway.


Day 13: Carcross\Whitehorse
Travel the South Klondike Highway through the scenic White Pass to Carcross - originally called Caribou Crossing- this historic village is home to the Carcross/Tagish First Nation. Its mountains and valleys offer incredible outdoor activities, including world-class mountain biking trails and scenic hiking opportunities. The cluster of historic structures in the heart of Carcross includes some of the Yukon's oldest buildings, including the Matthew Watson General Store. 175 kms Visit the Carcross Commons, White Pass & Yukon Route railroad depot, the Caribou Hotel Historic Site, sternwheeler S.S. Tutshis remains, Skookum Jim's house, and the Carcross/Tagish carving studio. Option to do the train excursion from Skagway to Fraser or to Carcross (One way on the train, one way on a bus). On your return to Whitehorse, take a walk in the Carcross desert, known as the smallest desert in the world, and admire the colours of beautiful Emerald Lake.


Day 14: Whitehorse
Enjoy some final time in Whitehorse to relax and enjoy the Wilderness City. Enjoy some souvenir shopping in the downtown area and some wonderful dining options. The Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre gives a fascinating insight into the Ice Age and First Nations culture. Return your Cruise Canada vehicle to
the depot in Whitehorse.
